Our Vision
The National Research Center for Career and Technical Education (NRCCTE) is the primary agent for generating scientifically based knowledge, dissemination, professional development, and technical assistance to improve career and technical education (CTE) in the United States.
Our Mission
The NRCCTE works to improve the engagement, achievement, and transition of high school and postsecondary CTE students through technical assistance to states, professional development for CTE practitioners, and dissemination of knowledge derived from scientifically based research.
To this end, the Center carries out scientifically based research and evaluation:
A. of methods to improve the:
1. integration of career-technical and academic instruction;
2. integration of secondary and postsecondary CTE;
3. use of education technology and distance learning;
4. transition of CTE participants to high-skill, high-wage, or high-demand occupations; and
5. use of state-adjusted levels of performance to improve CTE programs and student achievement.
B. to identify the academic knowledge and career-technical skills required for employment or participation in postsecondary education
C. to increase the effectiveness of CTE programs that are integrated with coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards
D. to improve the preparation and professional development of CTE teachers, faculty, and administrators in order to improve student learning
